Tonight was the 2012 Billboard Music Awards!

Justin Bieber attended the red carpet event with fan Cady (watch his invitation here!) and picked up the Top Social Artist award. During his acceptance speech, he said, “I just want to say how much of a blessing it’s been … the past three or four years, growing up in front of everybody. … I want to thank all my fans, because the Internet is where I got my start, and all my fans have helped me get to this position.” He also performed “Boyfriend,” which was followed by Carly Rae Jepsen‘s “Call Me Maybe.”

The night’s other winners included Taylor Swift, who took home Billboard Woman of The Year, Katy Perry, who won the Spotlight Award, and Adele, who won a total of 12 awards!

Miley Cyrus was there to present the Top New Artist award to Wiz Khalifa, and Jordin Sparks performed in the Whitney Houston medley.
