Emily Osment Speaks Out

Your EP released last year and has been very successful, did you think you would get such great feedback from fans?
I am so happy the fans love the music. All The Right Wrongs was a true attempt at figuring out who I want to be musically and I feel so lucky to have had fans there with me right from the beginning. Your support is always appreciated.
What made you decide to pursue music?
I finally decided that the music I was creating needed to leave the confines of my own home. I have loved music my whole life, it was just a matter of sharing.

What are your hopes for this album, FIGHT OR FLIGHT?
All I want is for people to listen. It’s not my music anymore it’s yours. You don’t have to look to hard to find my heart on that disk and all ask is for it to be handled with open ears

Do you co-write any songs?
I co-wrote every song on this album and the last.

What was the process like recording this album?
The process is slow, but it’s a good slow. When you want to be involved as much as I do you take your time in making things right. I spent months writing and months recording demos and months in the studio with my producer. I was very fortunate to work with amazing people in the music industry like Nellee Hooper, Toby Gad, Adam Schlesinger and Mandi Perkins.

Is there one song that has really special meaning to you?
The first song I wrote for the record was 1 800 Clap Your Hands. This song in particular means the most to me because it’s a great representation of an independent sound. The lyrics are about unifying and being strong together and I have always loved those kinds of themes in a song.

Now that HANNAH MONTANA is over, what’s next?
I will be touring with my music for a few months now. I have some other acting projects in the works, but I can’t stay in the same place for very long right now. I am so excited to get out on the road and see my fans face to face at shows!

Did you and Miley have a good relationship during HANNAH MONTANA? What about after?
Miley and I are truly like sisters. We spent so many years together and we know each other really well. We still talk now that the show is done, but we are both very busy girls.

You’ve been performing around the world for awhile now, is there an official tour coming up for this album?
I sure hope so. I would love to tour with a band that I love like Mike Snow, The Script or Phoenix if I could be so lucky.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I would love to go to New Zealand, but it’s hard to appreciate a beautiful place alone. I have been in the most awful cities with the most beautiful people and it makes all the difference.

Is there a message you want to give your fans?
That I love them and appreciate them. I listen to them though Twitter, Facebook and Myspace and I love hearing what they have to say. Go buy Fight or Flight!

Who are your musical inspirations?
My musical inspirations are any artists that make me want to create. I love Yeasayer, Incubus, Spoon, Metric and Radiohead.

Besides music, what’s next for you?
Working towards my goal of absolute world domination through love.
