Review of JUDY MOODY AND THE NOT BUMMER SUMMER

By Junior Reporter, Alexi

We got a sneak peak at the new movie JUDY MOODY AND THE NOT BUMMER SUMMER. The movie is based on characters from the bestselling book series written by Megan McDonald.

The movie was colorful, fun, fast paced and entertaining. Jordana Beatty stars as Judy. She has a wild wardrobe and a wilder imagination! The movie was really cool because using neat special effects; it took you inside Judy’s mind as she imagined what her friends were doing without her or how her summer could be awesome!

As the movie opens, we meet Judy, her parents and her brother Stink, played by Parris Mosteller. It’s Judy’s last day of school and we also meet her teacher played by Jaleel White, and her friends; Taylar Hender plays Amy, Garrett Ryan plays Rocky and Preston Bailey plays Frank.

The kids all get together after their last day of school and Judy shares her elaborate plans to NOT have a bummer summer and then she finds out Amy and Rocky have awesome plans for the summer. This leaves Judy alone with her brother and Frank. To make things worse, her parents have to go to California and Judy’s aunt Opal, whom she hardly remembers comes to babysit!

Opal, played by Heather Graham, is zany, artsy and a heavy sleeper. Stink is obsessed with catching Bigfoot. Zeke, played by Jackson Odell helps Stink as he tries to capture Bigfoot. Ashley Boettcher plays Jessica and has a few great parts.

Lots of crazy stuff happens as Judy tries to earn thrill points and compete with her friends, Amy and Rocky. We see how family and friends stick together though the ups and downs.
The movie is really funny and kids of all ages and adults will enjoy it too!

This movie has great actors. Jordana Beatty is brilliant and entertaining to watch. I wish we saw more of Taylar Hender and Garrett Ryan. Parris Mosteller is really funny and seems just like everyone’s cute but annoying kid brother! Heather Graham is great as Aunt Opal. She doesn’t really have experience with kids but tries her best to take care of Judy and Stink.

I hope you liked JUDY MOODY AND THE NOT BUMMER SUMMER as much as I did!
