One on One with Nolan Gould

Nolan Gould is most known for his new role as Luke on the ABC hit comedy MODERN FAMILY. “Testing for the role was a really long process. It was a lot, but once I found out I got the role I was so happy and relieved” he says. Nolan gets the opportunity to play an interesting type of character and describes Luke as “the inner child that’s in everybody, the daredevil and although people think he isn’t smart, he really is. He is also the sweetest character on the show” he tells us. Working with an amazing cast Nolan had some interesting things to say about them, “They are horrible! They are all such divas. Just kidding. I love working with them, they are all so nice and we are like one big happy family. Julie is always nagging on me, Ty is goofy and embarrassing. It’s a lot of fun” he says. (Sense of humor begins already!) On the show, Nolan gets to work with other young actors Sarah Hyland and Ariel Winter “They are really cool. They are like sisters to me. It’s great, in real life I have a brother, so when me and him get into a fight, I can take it out on them during filming and then when I get home to my brother, it’s all good!” he laughs. “No but really, they are great!”

Recently, MODERN FAMILY shot in Hawaii which Nolan says is now his favorite episode. “We got to film there and I got to go snorkeling and all this other fun stuff. I even brought back the coolest souvenir” he says “I was snorkeling in shallow water and I swam really close to the rocks where there were baby sharks, one got hold of my knee and people had to pry it off! I went to the hospital and had to get eight stitches!” he says very enthusiastically. “Again, just kidding! I did get eight stitches, but it was because I cut myself on the rocks” he laughs. MODERN FAMILY has been picked up for another season and if its one thing Nolan wants other kids to learn from the show its “don’t get yourself hurt like Luke does Also realize that family matters, love your family no matter what”

Nolan has recently been going to a lot more events lately, and shares information with us about his favorite. “The Furry Vengeance premiere was awesome. It was a really good movie and the after party was a carnival. They had cotton candy, snow cones, and more. It was also funny because Sarah’s [Hyland] boyfriend is in the film but was stuck because of the Volcano cloud; they set him up on a laptop via Skype and rolled him down the red carpet!”

Aside from working on MODERN FAMILY, Nolan tells us that he has recently filmed a live audience show with Disney, but can’t release anymore information then that – we wish him luck!

Is Luke just a little “slow” or is he a misunderstood genius?
Sort of a misunderstood genius, he thinks out of the box

Are you home schooled or go to a regular school?
Used to be home schooled

What is your favorite band?
Muse

Who is your favorite character to have a scene with on Modern Family?
Ty… we have great chemistry it’s really fun. I love improv and he and I do that a lot.

What is your advice for someone who wants to be an actor in LA as well?
Don’t come out here and get upset. You won’t book right away keep strong and keep going until you get it and don’t get a big head… always have determination.
