Q & A with Parris Mosteller

Dream:  Did you read the Judy Moody books before you got the role as Stink?

Parris: Yes, I had read a couple of Stink books. I really like the Stinkopedia! Once I knew I was going to audition for the movie, my friend Zoey, who is a huge Judy Moody fan, gave me all 10 of her books to read. So I read them too.

Dream:  Tell us more about your character Stink.?

Parris: Stink is all boy. He loves life and always has something he wants to do. He is pretty much always in a good mood. He also really likes to give his sister Judy a hard time….but in a not so mean way, cause he needs her help to find bigfoot.

Dream:  What was it like working with Heather Graham and the rest of the cast??

Parris: I really liked working with Heather. Did you know she likes to play Pokemon too? In fact, she likes it so much she went out and bought me my favorite Pokemon cards so we could play in between scenes. The movie is the first time I ever got to have a sister, cause I have 4 brothers, so that was new for me. I think I would like to have asister, because Jordana never took my stuff and never tackles me.

Dream:  What was the experience like on your first big movie?

Parris: Wow! It was the best. It was kind of difficult when they cut off my curls in the beginning so I would like Stink, but I’ve kept it short cause it looks good! And I had a trailer with my name on it…I liked that so much I kept the “Stink” tag that was on it.

Dream:  Tell us a fun memory from shooting the movie.?

Parris: I laugh every time I remember when Heather and Jordana and I had 20 minutes to shoot the 3 scenes where heather is doing Yoga and I am reading Bigfoot and Jordana is stomping in mad. The thing no one can tell when watching is that we had so little time to shoot all of them, because I couldn’t work any longer that day, that the set dresser made up a game where we would race to see who could change their clothes the fastest. I won the first 2 times, cause I am pretty speedy, but then Heather decided she wasn’t going to lose to me one more time and just went behind some bushes and beat me the last time!
Dream:  What are your summer plans?

Parris: I made it into the LA County Junior Gaurdsprogram and am going to spend my summer on the beach learning life guard stuff. I am also going to swim the 2.4 mile Dwight Crum Pier to Pier swim again in the ocean from Hermosa to Manhattan Beach. I was the youngest to ever swim it last year when I was 8.

Dream:  Why should people go see Judy Moody?

Parris: They should see Judy Moody because it makes the characters that they know from the books come to life. And boys will really like all the pranks I play on Judy and how I get to go on this huge chase for the big hairy monster called big foot.

Dream:  What was your favorite scene from the movie?

Parris: My favorite scene from the movie was the one we shot in the woods at midnight while looking for Bigfoot. The possum was pretty funny that night, he wasn’t behaving so well!

Dream:  What’s the craziest thing you had to do while filming Judy Moody?

Parris: Driving with Aunt Opal was pretty crazy.

Dream:  What made you decide you wanted to be an actor?

Parris: It just sort of happened by accident. When I was 4 I tagged along on a call back my older brother, Ty, had for Kraft Mac and Cheese. While in the waiting room, I got a paper cut on my finger and started to cry just when a producer for Kraft was walking by and she stopped and asked me how she could make me feel better.  I told her that a bowl of Kraft would do it, so she took me into the room where everyone was auditioning and I sat on her lap and had 8 bowls of the yummy goodness. Afterward she told my brothers agent that she wanted me to do the commercial. I have worked ever since.

Dream:  If you could star in a movie with one other person, who would it be?

Parris: Hmmm, probably my older brother, Ty. We are pretty good together!
